I Believe In This Sequel a Little
5 May 2023
This is one of the few Disney Sequels I would believe in. Well, just a little bit. Return to Never Land is a decently made sequel to the original classic. Since we are talking about a Disney sequel, it does suffer from a weak story that's mostly putting Jane to the test to believe in fairy tales, a stubborn main character, and that the logic makes no sense. But the charm of the original does come to the right place with good animation, nice voice acting especially coming from Captain Hook, and that it gotten better in the third act. As for my recommendation, I'll say that the kids will love it, as well as those that are nostalgic for this. However for those that do try their best to distance from Disney sequels, then yeah they might as well just go with the original. As a Disney sequel in the 2000s, it just could've been worse. But as a sequel to Peter Pan, at least it tried.
