In the likeable "One Day As A Lion" inept low-level hood Scott Caan (James' son) bungles a hit on tough rancher JK Simmons who owes big $$$ to Caan's slightly less inept bosses Frank Grillo & George Carroll. Caan goes on the run with the only witness to his screw-up, sassy Marianne Rendón, aided (perhaps) by her rich dying mum Virginia Masden but not by his ex Taryn Manning (as they also try to get son Dash Melrose outta jail) while Grillo & Carroll come after him (and Simmons). All performances are terrific (under director John Swab) and Caan wrote it in decent (if unexceptional) fashion for the genre. Small-town crime drama fans will def'ly like it (tho maybe not love it).
