The Title Tells It All
17 April 2023
Midge starts her new job on the Ford show. He is supported by a cadre of middle aged comedy writers who basically have tired jokes. Since he is on nightly, they have to come up with monologue material for him and he is a harsh critic. Midge walks in on their planning session and is not welcomed. They see her as an impediment. This is going to be ongoing, considering the time period. The strength of the show is her ability to be vulnerable but determined. It takes her time to be critical and judge the works of others. They don't respect her jokes, even when they are funnier than some of theirs. There are some funny bits with Abe interviewing a woman of the theater who puts some moves on him. This is one of the best shows ever and the dialogue is great in this one. I'm not a clothes person, by any means, but I have to say she sparkles whenever she is on the screen. I'll be sad when this show doesn't continue. Oh, the beginning where she is interviewed for 60 Minutes. Is this a put on?
