Review of Maestro

Maestro (2022– )
4/10
Strong start but soon becomes a predictable Greek Tragedy/Soap Opera
27 March 2023
This started off well as an interesting, modern series from Greece, but by the third episode quickly evolves into a very predictable Greek Tragedy with Soap Opera underpinnings. The acting is very good, and the scenery gorgeous, but the story is very poorly told. There is overuse of flashbacks, and indeed "flash-forwards". This leads to a loss of linear sequencing of the story, especially when the scenes become very jumbled and arranged in a random sequence. There are huge gaps in the timeline and the way the story is told. From the ending, it is easy to see that there is a second season planned, and one can expect more of a soap opera rather than a truly engaging series.
