interesting idea, but oh, the paperwork

When ol man archer croaks, his will says anyone who has served time for at least two years can file a claim on his 64,000 acres of land. As expected, this brings in a rough, tough group of thieves, stealing and shooting their way through town. Tim holt, regular good guy of the westerns, is deputy dave, who knew archer's past record of stealing land any way he could. When a couple of the ex-cons break into the safe, they think they have the land grab all figured out. Deputy dave steps in to save the day! It's not the most solid story, but it'll do. Other than that, a typical western. Filmed in burro flats, simi valley. Directed by ed killy. He was nominated for best assistant director 1934. No film given. Based on a story by lee bond. The cast list here shows john ince as an extra; it was his brother thomas who got into a tiff with william hearst, and may have died under mysterious circumstances. That story was the plot of "cat's meow" 2001. That's a more interesting story.
