7/10
As someone who has never watched the anime before, I was a bit lost, but I really enjoyed what I saw

I could see how fans of the anime would be upset about this being mostly rehash episodes. However, seeing it presented in a theatrical format was actually really good. The animation and sound design really benifit from being put up on the big screen. It felt epic. Now, I've never seen the anime myself and went to this on a whim because I've already seen everything else in theaters at the time. This made me want to watch the anime. I was invested by the time it ended. The first episode of the (I'm assuming from what I've read) 3rd season is a bit underwhelming as there are no fight sequences, just a bit of tying things up from the last season. It didn't really need to be a part of this and might have benifitted by stricly being a recap of the previous season. My only issue with this compilation film is the multiple opening and ending credit sequences. Those should have been edited out and the episodes should have been edited together for a more fluid experience. So, in that, I understand the issues fans of the series would have had with that in particular. Overall, even with all the blanks I had to fill in the story, I was entertained enough to give this a positive review and say that I thoroughly enjoyed it.

3.5 epic battles out of 5.
