I don't rate movies compared to other movies, rather by their achievement within their self determined construct. I believe this is a "9" without the spoiler in the beginning. The story may have been predictable, but the characters and the dialogue were not. It's very unique in that none of the characters are very likable, but most all are intriguing. The daughter and her friend were hilarious, possibly have great careers ahead. The mom's lines were poetic and truthful. What the movie lacked in depth, it made up for in breadth. While the the characters were not "well developed," in this type of movie, "a little dab'l do ya!"
It is what it is.
