Her daughter Bridget "Bitty" Ertz (Hilary Swank) is actually the one with the Power of Attorney. She has traveled from California with her own daughter Emma (Taissa Farmiga).
This is a difficult and universal situation. I myself has something similar. Everybody with parents will run into something along this line. These are great actor playing in difficult waters. It's all very compelling and very difficult.
