Something about the southerners in this film is off-putting. I don't know if it's the twang, the mannerisms, or just the style of clothing mixed with the Texas countryside. In my opinion, most of Texas is one big desert, and it adds little to the production value of a romance movie such as 'A Feeling of Home'. Pertaining to Texas, a movie needs to be something about a bunch of Rangers that were uncouth and scarily proficient at their craft: hunting down and killing miscreants. It's almost like the cattle ranchers of that region are bursting with angst waiting for the old ways to come back so they can load themselves full of six-shooters and go to town.

Both leads are new to me. I don't really like either one of them and the chemistry is non-existent. She went to Yale? No way she exudes anything akin to the civilized female she is attempting to portray. And he was accepted to Yale but instead went to college to be a rancher? Does not compute. Immediate disdain for the rest of this failed attempt at believability.

I could not get through this movie, it's too foreign and antiquated for my tastes. Go watch some breezy John Wayne flick where he's an archaic rancher if you want the same reminiscence of a defunct southern culture.
