A Twisted Low Budget Riot
14 January 2023
Danny McBride is a unique talent. He is crass, vulgar, and yet evokes a tender feeling over his lack of "nunchi". McBride must have had some Taekwondo experience in his life because the beauty of this film is that it does resonate if you have ever had any martial arts training at all. He is the hyperbolic exaggeration of every American boy that fell in love with Asian Martia arts films as a kid and then wanted to open their own school. The film has some truly "laugh out loud" moments. It is visibly low budget by virtue of the cinematography and the Direction, but that is part of the charm. The supporting cast is clever and funny. McBride is very watchable.
