Shadow of a doubt.
27 December 2022
Jean Peters meets again Joseph Cotten with whom she shared a boat on Niagara Falls .But he is neither the criminal he was in Hathaway's film nor treacherous "Uncle Charlie" but a dispenser of justice when the legal one is blind. His sister-in-law might be akin to Jean Simmons in Preminger's "angel face ", butter does not seem to melt in her mouth ,although her attitude is ambiguous when after the death of her stepdaughter ,she plays the piano ,without shedding a tear. And Gary Merrill's wife is suspicious ,remembering the circumstances of the father's death.

The best moment is the scene in the cabin of the liner with a smart use of a clock ;the viewer really wonders whether this lady is really a criminal .

Good suspense.
