Disappointing, but polarizing.

I had high hopes for this movie, as a character-driven story about the psychological effects of capitalism. I had hoped that the idea of "climbing over someone else to get out of the hole" would be a key theme; although I was mistaken.

It starts off great as we get to slowly develop our characters and see the struggle that Cassius will have to face throughout the entire movie; does he betray his friends and co-workers to gain personal glory? Or does he do what's right and fight the important fight on the ground floor? This is just reinforced when Cassius is promoted, adding more tension to the question. But the point where the movie shifts for me, is the party scene; where our horse-hybrids are discovered. And surprisingly I wasn't apposed to this choice at first, the bay-area billionaire creating monsters for his own labor? Sounded great. But the treatment of them less as monsters and more as a joke immediately lost me. But from here strap in because we still have a lot of plot to get through in very little time. This movie is around 1hr 45min which causes a lot of its plot (a lot of its ending) to feel rushed and underdeveloped. This left me dazed and confused as I felt that I just flipped through a picture book of a movie. Though for all its faults, this movie does try to do something different, it never plays it safe and I cannot discredit that. It wasn't for me, but if you enjoy movies that dissolve into absurdity than its right up your alley.
