Overall great film, but it's a fictitous story.

Salyut 7 is a great space movie, it has drama, tension, good visuals and decent storytelling. On its own it's a great movie.

The problem is that it's not really based on real events, at least not as much as it's claiming to be. There was never a fire on Salyut 7, the crew weren't that close to dying, and Challenger never launched to steal the station.

The movie does take real concerns from the time, risk of the crew dying, risk of losing to the enemy and the whole cold war paranoia, it does a good job of telling that story, but it just doesn't tell a factual story.

Most made up events feel like they're just trying to make the story grandious for no reason, it's a broken space station repair story that ACTUALLY HAPPENED, you don't need to kitch it.

You know that one guy that always makes up details as he recalls a real story, details that seem true, but if you know the truth they're obvious lies.

I really feel like this movie could have been more faithful to real events, or it could just be marketed as a fictitous story about that specific time period, like a generalisation of events, which it is.

It's a decent movie, but it's just not a docu-drama. It's mostly fictional events.
