"Never before in the history of the world have people felt so close to God"

Warning: Spoilers
This movie begins by deftly weaving humor into a dire scenario, immediately seizing one's attention, but it's chock-full of implausibilities and ends simplistically.

It is pretty interesting to contemplate a double-whammy heading Earth's way, set to wipe out existence in a matter of months. However, the filmmaker's solution to the doomsday scenario defies credulity -- 44 people who just happen to include the movie's main characters win the privilege of flying to a spanking-new world, miraculously arriving there in no time at all. I love how, still in their street clothes, they step into an otherworldly shangri-la, easily breathing in another world's air.

A surprise here is the lovely screen presence of Barbara Rush, who conjures wonderful chemistry with Richard Derr, himself never better than when he's burning cash to light up his smoke. Their scenes together are fun.
