Review of Ezra

Ezra (I) (2007)
10/10
An excellent and important film

The film is beautifully shot and beautifully told. The acting is good. I don't know how people had trouble following it, I had no trouble following the flashbacks and felt they enhanced the story and its tensions.

The story follows a young child soldier who is abducted and indoctrinated into a rebel army. As the story unfolds, his crimes are revealed to be both casual and devastting. It is brutal in its honesty but worth it for the emotional impact.

It is an important film told from a uniquely African perspective. Rarely told true story of child soldiers in Sierra Leone. Wonderful submission. Hope this enables more African films to be seen in the US.
