Seagal plays ex-LA cop Roland Salinger, who after a near fatal shooting from his crooked partner, switches careers and moves to work as a bodyguard for the daughter of his old friend Connor Wells. Connor's daughter Nikkita (pretty Liezl Carstens) is the usual rich kid socialite kind who is dating up and coming boxer Mason Silver (Arron Shiver) and at first treats Seagal with contempt and doesn't want her life handled by Seagal, but after a few star struck looks between them, she soon begins to warm to Seagal's charms. Unknown to our hero however, Connor is caught up in some bad business with a bunch of very hombres and when Nikita's not so loveable boyfriend organises a kidnap attempt on Nikita's life - Seagal goes all soft and gentle and snaps bones!

You know the score just by reading the above, but this film is quite above average with a plot that sucks you in, has the usual frenetic action and some good hand to hand fights. There's a sense of energy, a sense of not going through the motions - and the relationship between Nikita and Seagal is well done. It might not be like Seagal's golden period of the late 80s and early 90's, but it's quite fun and engaging in its own right.
