No tension or angst in this film about a busy architect who hires a holiday decorator to prepare his house for a Christmas visit from his family.
I like Jonathan Bennett's frequent 'deer in the headlights' expression when faced with challenges which confuse him or events which surprise him.
Steven, the architect, is good at his work but suffers from Impostor Syndrome. Gretchen, the decorator, is afraid to quit her day job and commit fully to her decorating business.
The plot invests in their growing relationship and emergence of confidence. This isn't in the upper tier of our holiday favorites, but it's quite watchable and not something you'll miss important plot points if you get distracted while watching. :-)
