I do not have any hesitation to call it the best Bengali movie made in recent times. A movie of this quality was long due to pay at least some tribute to the maestro. Made on the hurdles Ray faced during the making of Pather Panchali and how that film became a cult in the years to follow form the storyline. This is an inspiring tale of struggle, hardship and hope. This is an eye-opener for the would-be-Rays to learn how even with a shoestring budget and a mountain full of obstacles, a movie of that standard could be made. Anik Dutta is sincere in his directorial approach and his true respect for the legend is visible in every frame. Jeetu Kamal as Ray is mesmerizing. It is hard to believe that an actor of his standard was being wasted in the gutter of Tollygunj. Saayoni Ghosh as Ray's supportive spouse Bijoya Ray shines, too. Every other character does the best. The movie is based on thoroughly done research on the master craftsman's life but the finesse with which Dutta narrates the story does not let the audience lose interest even for a single moment. A movie not to be missed at any cost.

My rating- 9 out of 10. Can it be rated 10? Why not?
