Eat Locals (2017)
3/10
Rather boring...
23 August 2022
I have to admit that the synopsis for the 2017 horror comedy from writer Danny King and director Jason Flemyng definitely sounded interesting, and it made me want to sit down and watch the movie. And I did so here in 2022, as I stumbled upon the movie by random luck, and without ever having heard about the movie.

I didn't know what to expect here, aside from what I read on the synopsis, so writer Danny King and director Jason Flemyng had every opportunity to impress me.

The storyline in "Eat Locals" turned out to be a rather flaccid one actually. The storyline deviated quite a lot from what the synopsis would otherwise lead you to believe, so that was somewhat disappointing.

And to make matters worse, then the storyline utterly failed to entertain or impress me. Sure, I managed to sit through just about 1 hour of the ordeal, but then I ended up tossing the towel in the ring and giving up on the movie. It was obvious that the movie was not going to change pace or tone and become something actually worthwhile watching.

I was surprised to see the likes of Charlie Cox, Mackenzie Crook and Dexter Fletcher on the cast list here. Other than those, then I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble. And that is usually something I enjoy when watching movies, as I am not associating the performers with previously portrayed characters. But since the actors and actresses had nothing worthwhile to work with in "Eat Locals", then an unknown cast ensemble didn't really shine that much anyway.

I wasn't entertained by this movie, and it is not a movie that I would recommend fans of the horror comedy genre to rush out and get to watch.

My rating of "Eat Locals" lands on a three out of ten stars.
