Maybe its cause im insane but i will lose my mind if yall dont watch this show.
Im so attached to all these characters and those freaking monkeys oh my god.
Id give it 10 stars if it werent for the entire somadhi fire plot. It was horrible.
I would love the somadhi fire arc if it had two changes: redson got the fire, and wukong tried to kill a child.
It made no sense to give mei the fire, this show tried so hard not to be misogynistic that it forgot its dang protaginist😭😭 i am a woman and a mei lover, im allowed to say that.
Mei already had the super cool dragon stuff goin on she didnt need to have an entire arc that ultimately went nowhere there was no change in her at the end of her arc she just became friends with redson.
It would of made complete sense to give redson the power that HE MADE, and say he still cant exactly controll it but can still withstand it because hes older now. Mei could of been his teacher, shes based off the river horse dragon who LIVED IN A RIVER.
This show loves taking stuff from jttw and changing it, so MAKE MEI A WATER DRAGON AND THEN SHE CAN HELP REDSON LEARN WHILE KEEPING THE FIRE FROM TAKING OVER CAUSE SHES WATER. Or literally anything else i would love their dynamic so much more if she could be a silly teacher to a loser student.
Anyway onto the monkeys these monkeys are so mentally ill.
A major point of season three is trying to expand on wukong being a bad person, but he never really did anything wrong, at least not enough to warrant meis freakout.
The most he ever did was tell minor lies like a few times and leave macaque which is not nearly enough for what the show is pushing. It feels like a battle between the writers, to keep wukong a mentor respectable figure or make him what he truly is, a dumb, impulsive man who should have attempted murder on lbd after she said the mortal would die. Since when did wukong care about mortals??
The most we got for a "conculsion" to this, was wukong going "thanks for sticking with me bud🤓" after literally nothing happening.
They could have done so much if they just committed to the make sun wukong had train.
Next we have the main character the show forgot about. Im hoping they keep his confidence problems in season four, because they were never resolved nor hardly brought up in the big conclusion to the show. They shoved him aside for what couldve been the coolest quote ever in refrence to redsons, "be the fire." Had MEI SAID IT. Mk deserved better as did the whole cast amen hallelujah.
