A homosexual King, a bisexual bodyguard (who doesn't realize it) and a straight Queen; who after losing her virginity becomes a nymphomaniac. So how on earth was this even worthy of making when there is no real substance for a great story. I watch a lot of South Korean films (and a lot of its period setting ones) and stumbled upon this accidentally. The story did not interest me so I was going to give it a miss but, that gut feeling tingle changed my mind. By the end though I had but one thought going through my mind...Why?
Costumes, settings and all tech side attributes were lavish and excellent and, for me, were the main success of this film. Set the gay aspect to one side and its just a story of a three way love affair and the green eyed monster known as jealousy. Throw in the usual, behind the Royal back, of plots and subterfuge etc, and it could be a story set in any country and age. I don't think that it was a worthy film to make but the actors involved did a good job with it. I am glad I did watch it but my 6 stars for it are all for the tech side, settings and beautiful costumes.
