I have to write a review because I did not agree with the negative reviews. I have read the book and watched other adaptions. Dakota gives a lovely performance- worth watching. I felt all her frustrations- particularly with her narcissistic sister- also a fine performance by that young girl. I liked the casting. Yes it had a modern element-so what?! I worked out fine. All the cast were great. I love a period piece too. I liked the music and i love a happy ending. I thought the guy who playe dFrederick did a fine job. Give them a break. It was watchable and enjoyable. I did fast forward the end where Anne runs after Frederick-it was taking too long -I loved their reuniting scene- very romantic. Nice humour popped in there too. Watch the film and make your own minds up.
