OK, someone has imprisoned a badass-looking Chthulu deep in this mountain (not deep enough) and surrounded said prisoner with various forms of deadly mayhem to keep people away.
Lots have pointed out the dumbest actions, like trying to solve the spider problem by shooting them. How many could you get even if you spent every round? 1%? Less. Dumb, nobody would do something so dumb. And there's more of that kind of thing. Did he really think he could take out a 2-foot thick iron chain with a grenade? The only question is whether it would even leave a mark!
I don't trash the ending though. It's a tough thing to wrap up. Let him escape confinement to bathe the world in blood and horror? Or not. I think she gouged out her own eyes so he couldn't mesmerize her into trying to release him. Like someone said, maybe also to try and end the horrible images Chthulu sent her way.
TL;DR The dumb stuff in the script is too aggravating, but if you like giant monsters (I do) it's worth that 17-minute look.
