Merry Andrew (1958)

stay in the circus

Warning: Spoilers
Andrew Larabee (Danny Kaye) is a beloved teacher at a boys school. He's his father's disappointment among his three sons. He intends to find a historical statue. That would prove his worth to his father and allow him to marry his girl. At his dig site, he encounters the Gallini family traveling circus and the acrobat Selena Gallini.

This is a fun musical. Danny Kaye is doing his best. He's nice. They do need to cut out Letitia Fairchild. It's not appealing for him to dump her. She may be waspy but she is perfectly nice. Dumping her on his brother is probably the best solution. I do like the premise of forcing him with Selena. There is a section where they leave the circus to go back to the regular world. It's not a fun section. I'd rather stay at the circus and have the drama play out there. They have a week there. Let them have a chaotic fun week.
