Review of The Kiss

Dawson's Creek: The Kiss (1998)
Season 2, Episode 1
7/10
My second favorite season premiere.

It was part of that best of season 2 VHS I used to watch on a loop. Dawson and Joey were cute at first, then completely nauseating with that way of acting like what they saw in movies. Which goes to show they weren't ready for a serious relationship. Or were each other's way of practicing for it. Pacey met Andy, and I am still pissed writers ruined that for the Joey/Pacey angst. The actors chemistry is through the roof, and they just click more as a TV couple. Jen was just miserable, which made her character more entertaining. I like that attention to details, when she has her hair tied up, all episode long, to both show Jen's depressive state. And hide Williams shorter do. Joey, on the other hand, became boring and completely lost her edge. And her coping mechanism, more of a punchline than a character's trait. Dawson is just dull, and his parents have way more exciting lives than him. The way Gail wore that shirt, made me laugh. It used to be sexy like a decade from when the show took place... Grams becomes a regular, and I love that. As flawed as season 2 may be, it is the one that introduced me to the show, which makes it my favorite. And its season premiere, something that gives me a lot to look forward, each time. Great soundtrack all over, and it's the same as in the TV version.
