Less Baz, more Austin.

Title: Elvis

Rating: 7/10

Follow the story of Elvis Presley (Austin Butler), from his childhood in Mississippi to his rise to stardom starting in Memphis, Tennessee, and his conquering of Las Vegas, Nevada, Elvis Presley becomes the first rock 'n roll star and changes the world with his music. Elvis Presley has inspired many, his life is such a wild ride. I'm a big fan of Baz Luhrmann's work, Moulin Rouge is one of my favorite movies of all time. But personally, this is not my favorite.

The story comes from the perspective of Elvis's manager, Colonel Parker (Tom Hanks). In the first minutes, you'll watch the extravagant style of Baz Luhrmann, and it always starts with a tragedy, also added with the tragedy of Tom Hanks prosthetics.. of course. The cinematography and editing are glamorous, this is so-called a Baz Luhrmann movie at its finest. Even though I'm not a fan of the first act, the third act is glorious. However, the movie is too goddamn long, it bloated with a full of emotion.. or perhaps it blooms into a beautiful mess, you'll see.

Now let's talk about Austin Butler, his acting is 10/10 itself. His performance is one of my performances by actors ever. The way he transform himself in the lifetime of Elvis Presley is magnificent, no ordinary actor could do this. His expression, his walk, and the way he looks, in every frame are just as phenomenal as every Elvis's performance. His hand will be full of every award as he should be.
