I think I originally saw this on VHS around 1980, I was about 10 and always remembered Rod Steiger's fly scene. On re-watching, that is still the only really memorable scene. Both James Brolin and Margot Kidder are great, but the story is the weak link. A very average horror that didn't have any scares. Two interesting points though, Father Ryan, the disbelieving cleric in Amityville horror was also the Mayor of Amity in Jaws and Jaws II; While Margot Kidder is remembered for playing Lois Lane in the Christopher Reeve Superman movies, she also starred in two of the most famous horror movies of the 70's.
