Eileen Daly is razor sharp as Lilith Silver
1 May 2022
The opening scene is of a duel in Victorian England, filmed in black and white plus red for the blood, very cool. British Scream Queen Eileen Daly plays a 19th Century vampire/assassin living in 1990's London. She has appeared in some bad movies but I always find her a joy to watch, she really gets her teeth - or in this case fangs - into this role and she looks fantastic. Lilith is a highly skilled killer with a sense of humour, she asks one victim "Don't you just love ball sports?" before shooting him in his groin. RBS is a modern horror movie with lots of action, humour and Gothic imagery. Plenty of blood, violence, swearing and some sex. Shot on a low budget so don't expect Oscar winning acting. I felt that the running time could have been cut to speed the film up, a few scenes are pointlessly too long. This was actor David Warbeck's last movie, he has only a small part here but is best known for appearing in Italian horror movies. Director Jake West is very passionate about the horror genre and it shows, he isn't afraid to re-write some traditional vampire laws. I have the UK DVD release, sadly the picture quality is rather poor and this is a real shame as the movie is very visual. A restored Blu-ray release would be very welcome. NB - Do not switch off during the end credits as there is a post credit scene!
