This is a movie about mormonism. Within this story, the movie equates the "book of mormon" with God's Holy Bible. I and my family, as Christians, lived in Salt Lake City, UT for 8.5 years. Our family is Puerto Rican and some are light-skinned and some are dark. As a non-mormon, our dark-skinned daughter was belittled by her public school teachers and harrassed by her classmates. We finally had to removed her to place her in a private Christian school. It was worth every penny!

We discovered that this prejudice originates from a mormon doctrine that says when Cain was ousted from Eden, the mark that God gave Cain was black skin. Which of course is neither Biblical nor truth. We then discovered that the book of mormon is almost completely NON-BIBLICAL and promotes the total subjugation of women and total domination of men without question. These were just a few doctrines that are nowhere in the Bible.

When we lived there all our neighbors had to attend the neighborhood "ward" which is what they call their church building. The "temple" is reserved for their leaders, their elite, special secret ceremonies* and the place where members get married; but only if they are mormons 'in good standing'. Meaning, in part, being fully paid up on their "tithing" (one-tenth of their total income, to the penny) and having no "sinful" behavior.

*One of those secret ceremonies is "baptism for the dead". Meaning a person will stand in for a dead relative to be baptizing into the mormon religion "by proxy" and the dead person is now a mormon: and against their will.

These examples are just some of the many NON-BIBLICAL doctrines of that religion. Which is, by definition, a cult. I'm not sure why the Dove Channel would carry/promote this movie but as long as they are promoting movies that depict cults as positive, we will NOT be subscribing.

Oh BTW, we could only take it for 8.5 years and finally left.
