The Flash: Masquerade (2021)
Season 7, Episode 13
1/10
Offensive

I found the treatment of mental health in this episode wildly offensive. It was written like an after school PSA but it missed the mark in every way. I appreciated the conversations it was trying to start but I think it's depiction of mental health was stigmatizing more than compassionate.

The lack of Iris was again another drag on this episode. Earlier in the season she was going to therapy groups to deal with her trauma and that was a development I was very happy to see. Since then, nothing has been done with that. You would think that would be relevant to an episode dealing with Black women and mental health.

Another episode that didn't stick the landing in a season with a lot of duds. I also can't shake how Barry and Iris are beginning to feel like side characters in their own show. This season is lacking a clear direction and it shows.
