The setting is Pawley's Island. The time is the present. But the film looks back to the legendary saga of Alice Flagg, who, in 1849, fell in love with an underling, then died of a broken heart.

"Honeymoon From Hell" uses the Alice Flagg story as a backdrop. But the film is unsuccessful in melding the styles of haunted house scenario, a thriller, and the horror genre.

Another shortcoming was the wooden acting, as the characters and relationships were not credible. The film should have been anchored by Julia-Rivers relationship But from the outset, the two characters seemed like a mismatch.

While there was a nice, little twist in the Alice Flagg connection with Julia, the characters were generally unlikable. The drama unfolding in the bed and breakfast cottage was static, and the oncoming hurricane simply could not arrive too soon in this clunker.
