An unsuccessful actor receives a telephone call about his daughter having been abducted. Since he doesn't have a daughter, the message fails to strike the right note of intimidating terror. After a while he realizes that there's an actual kidnapping going on, but that the kidnappers phoned a wrong number. Egged on by his ambitious, Lady Macbeth-like wife, he begins to explore the financial possibilities of such a mistake...
As a thriller, "See the Man Run" is both suspenseful and entertaining. It tells a clever, original tale about two amateur grifters making a difficult situation even worse. The plot makes good use of an actor's protean ability to play a variety of characters.
The highly satisfying ending culminates in a twist so cunning that it might have been invented by the Prince of Darkness himself...
