Ben Johnson is in charge of the US Government's mustang program in Wyoming, where they keep the wild horses in check by capturing some of them for training. Ex-rodeo champ Kenny Rogers gets fired from his job and heads off to take part in a round-up. Johnson is retired before the round-up begins, alas, and the new man allows corruption to creep in. There's also young love, lots of nice photography of horses on bright-lit open range, and music by Hans Zimmer and Kenny Rogers.
Clearly a TV movie with ambition, it's a little too standard to be be great, but it's a pleasant modern western. With Pam Dawber, Richard Masur, and Richard Farnsworth to fill out the capable cast.
