Starts great but obvious plot holes unaddressed and characters not interesting

Warning: Spoilers
The title above pretty much expresses everything.

It starts off very strong. The 1st 10 episodes or so are good but it starts to drag the rest of the season. I find that I did not care one bit about the gangs. Not even a little. I would have been perfectly fine with all of them dying. In fact thats remains the best outcome. So when the second half of the season delves deep into their backgrounds I found that I just didnt care and I got bored because the flashbacks and interpersonal dramas were taking away from plot advancement. To me those were all filler episodes till the last episode.

The other issue is the protagonist is annoying to watch and the antagonist is shallow. The Anime does not delve into Tekka's history so we dont know why he is doing what he is doing. He is just the boogyman which is not particularly interesting. The protagonist (Takemichi) is also unfun to watch. He is just to whiny and lazy. Recall that he is an adult in this anime... he is not a child. He just uses his child body but inside he is older. So for someone that old to be so mentally weak and emotionally mopey is just not fun to watch.

Finally the major plot hole.

Time travel has some very obvious utility that anyone would figure out in a matter of minutes... maybe hours at worst. This is not addressed in the show. Everything could have easily been resolved if Takemichi simply used his knowledge of the past to become a millionaire which would be trivially easy. The two obvious ways are gambling and stocks. For gambing he just needed a lotto ticket. You would need an adult to buy it and cash it in so there will be some trial and error to find the right person. But the easier way is to trade stock. Takemichi could have just asked an adult to help him open an account.

The reason the time travel plot hole matters in this show is because the show takes itself very seriously. This is not a comedy. If it were a comedy then I could forgive that obvious problem but this isnt it. This is a story about saving people from dying in the future and fixing the protagonists life trajectory. Thus the plot hole is a problem...
