Rosario Tijeras (2016–2019)
6/10
RT Seasons 1 and 2 had me hooked, but....

Warning: Spoilers
Rosario Tijeras got me hooked with the storyline. I enjoyed Season 1, which made a lot of sense. There were a few disturbing aspects, though. Barbara de Regil, a beautiful actress, should NOT have played a 16-yr-old. I admired her attempt at being young, unruly, silly, daring, bold, etc. But, as other hit Netflix series such as La Niña and Queen of Flow, the producers should have used a teenager to play Rosario. All the supporting characters like Antonio, Emilio, Paula, etc. Did not change, but we are expected to believe they aged 5 years? Perhaps, a change of facial features like beards, haircuts? Not enough imagination in this area at all. Rosario never changed her hairstyle, either! The detectives and the bad guys (especially Tobias and Arteaga) were actually more consistent in their characterizations. Antonio's lovesick character was played excellently by Jose de Tavira! Emilio...ayayay. Hard to have taken him seriously. Too immoral! And what about little baby brother Eric? He was a young kid! Into Eric, the teen???? Confusing!

Overall, I realized 60 episodes were not enough! I wanted more...

Season 2 was a bit of a shocker. Major characters remained (Paula, Pamela) but were different actresses! That truly bothered me! It took a while to "get used to". Rosario remained the same, but again...no hint that she got older. Same hairstyle, same outfits. Being 21 is still young. Ms De Regil is a woman through and through! Too old-looking for the age of Rosario. Many wonderful additions: Sebastian Martinez, reminded me of a dancer. Not sure whether he was good or bad?? Again, he looked younger than Rosario.

Veronica Langer as Aurora was EXCELLENT!!!

Israel Islas as Toxina was BAAAAAD, but made me sob because of his love for his dog, Peste Danny Perea as Detective Pamela eventually became TRULY annoying!!!

And many other new characters like the prostitutes and townspeople. Many were incredible actors!!

This series was well-worth the 127 episodes. The deaths of so many beloved characters left me breathless and angry and frustrated. I loved the final two episodes, but I will no longer watch Season 3. To date, Netflix does not carry it. You Tube carries a lot of episodes but never complete with English subtitles. It also introduces new characters but everyone dies. Uh-uh. No thanks.
