Silly, But Fun Action Show
21 July 2021
I actually remember watching this show during its short run of Fox Kids. Basically, Los Luchadores is another short-lived action show by Saban Entertainment, who had involvement from Shavick Entertainment (who previously worked with Saban on The New Addams Family).

In Union City, Lobo Fuerte is a luchador, a masked wrestler, who also serves as the city's hero and protector. With his tag team partner and sidekick Turbine, and ally Maria Valentine, he protects Union City from all evil, from aliens to monsters to even his arch nemesis, The Whelp.

It is silly, as this is like the Batman show from the 1960's, but more modern and the heroes are luchadores. Lobo Fuerte is like Adam West's Batman, as he is always on the luchador straight and narrow path (even going as far as to remind Turbine a true luchador fights in the ring with his heart, not weapons). Turbine is like Burt Ward's Robin, only more rebellious and acting before thinking, and Maria Valentine is the Batgirl of the team, helping in battles sometimes. The villains are mostly one-episode villains that include aliens, a mud monster, mini-luchadores who create chaos to create a storm, and even an evil mask that takes control of Turbine. The only recurring villain is The Whelp, a chihuahua who, at the end of the first episode, has some evil from one-off villain Douglas Slade transferred to him, causing him to become an evil mastermind.

The episodes are basically the silly stories Saban is known for (one episode involves Lobo entering another dimension where he never existed, and another involves Lobo having to wrestle an alien in a bout televised across the galaxy), but it's the good kind of silly. And it did have a disclaimer clip at the end when in air telling kids not to try the moves at home (similar to how WWF/WWE was telling kids not to imitate the wrestling moves done by their superstars). This may be a silly action show, but it's a good one in my book.
