Grimm: Let Your Hair Down (2011)
Season 1, Episode 7

Decent, Even if Unbelievable

Warning: Spoilers
This week's episode is based loosely on the Rapunzel fairy tale, the princess with the super long hair who was locked in a castle tower. That's where the similarity ends. This Rapunzel is Holly Clark, a 16 year-old girl living in the woods who was missing since she was 7 years old. I found the entire hour entertaining, but the episode was definitely not without its flaws. I'm terrible at reviews so here are some random thoughts:

  • Why was she lost in the woods? She went camping with her neighbor alone? Why is he in a police lineup?

  • Did she just not know how to speak? Even at 7 years old, children usually have the ability to somewhat articulate or form complete sentences. I understand that she was supposedly alone for years, but I would assume vocabulary isn't one of those things someone could forget.

  • What was the point of the pot farmer and his brothers? They were just annoying and an obvious plot device just to show that Holly was a Blutbad.

  • This teenage girl was living in the woods alone for 9 years and can't speak and can fang out and has completely maimed a guy or two. Let's go ahead and return her to her foster mom, like ten minutes after she's found. I'm sure the girl will be fine. The mom can wear padding.

  • Is someone gonna untie that poor guy that the idiot brothers kidnapped? I mean, hasn't he been though enough already? I hope he's microchipped.

Grimm is getting better and better, as far as I'm concerned. It seems to be finding its groove, and has improved exponentially since the pilot episode. I think this will be a show I see through to the end.
