Having episodes 800-900 at the back of my mind while watching this episode got my heart cracking all over again. The direction and music used in the flashback scene made it a really striking scene in of itself, but now knowing what happened in whole cake island with Sanji's backstory further explored somewhat recontextualizes what Sanji may be feeling here. Zeff a random pirate to Sanji would sacrifice his leg and the possibility of his dream of seeing the All-Blue to save him just for sharing the same dream. Comparing that to the treatment he received from his actual father and siblings who would beat and mock him for the fun of it makes the scene when Sanji breaking down in tears all the more heartbreaking to me.
