The Blacklist (2013–2023)

Warning: Spoilers
...but season after season it got more and more disappointing. I kept watching till season three because of the superb lead actor -James Spader does an amazing job portraying Reddington- and the interesting blacklist cases. But illogical situations and the stupidity shown by the female lead and other FBI agents are simply unbearable.

Lizzy's character is annoying , unlikable, and 99% of the time the actress is expressionless , the remaining 1% unconvincing. Lizzy is supposed to be a brilliant profiler, tough and "smart", but she is always making mistakes, taking bad decisions, betraying people and leaving a lot of collateral damage (people die, get hurt, are incarcerated, careers get ruined, etc.) , but no matter what wrongs she does, everybody -including those she has damaged- inexplicably seems to have as sole purpose in life to help her, protect her, clean up her mess and let her get away with everything. To make things worse, Lizzy is self-righteous and, of course, unbreakable (walking out from explosions, car crashes, terrible fights, and so on without a scratch -perhaps a very tiny one-) and while other "top" agents get captured, hurt and/or tortured, she almost never gets caught, or manages to escape and do the rescue. One is left to wonder how the FBI survived and solved cases before this commandeering super rookie joined them? (and everyone stands in awe forgetting Red is the one giving her all the cases, all the leads). Sarcasm aside, why are the creators of this show ruining it on behalf of such an awful character and turning the others into pathetic caricatures just to make her "shine" the more?

I don't know if I'll keep watching the show. I still like Red and find the cases intriguing, and some characters are quite likable (i.e Dembe, Aram) . However, I'm not that curious about the mystery surrounding Lizzy's parentage. I don't want to spoil it, but there is just one logical explanation regarding Red's tolerance and love towards her. But logic is not at its best in the series. I can only hope it doesn't get more ridiculous and insulting to the audience's intelligence.
