A film to understand
20 May 2021
Dibakar Banerjee's latest film in the cloak of a chase thriller tries to cover many social issues in a way that doesn't seem preachy and over the top.

Varun Grover's script follows Sandeep(Parineeti Chopra) an accomplice of a huge bank scam who comes by a shocking revelation after encountering with Pinky(A suspended police officer) and a series of a cat and mouse game follows. Dibakar Banerjee's innovative syle of filmmaking makes this film a departure from traditional films of this genre, the main reason is the contrast of the two lead characters in several ways. Parineeti Chopra is a revelation in this film and Arjun Kapoor also does a decent job. The first half of the film is memorable but the second half of the film falters due to absence of proper characterization of the side characters and the indulgence in issues which affects the flow of the film. Dibakar Banerjee's experiment with genre has been quite revelant from his debut and this film also not an exception and to some extent it works here too but even though having Varun Grover(Sacred games)as a writer the film fails to establish a impact which his previous films have generated.

And last but not the least, the opening sequence of the film is interestingly made and executed.
