Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoy this show. It's been very entertaining since it first aired. Overall, I would give it an 8. I really like it. I do, however, need to give this episode just one star for the dangerous information included in this episode.

The information presented about adult onset (type 2) diabetes is so wrong, it could be dangerous. Dangerous because people who suspect they may have diabetes will be frightened away from getting diagnosed and seeking treatment.

First, maybe Max could figure out Floyd's mother had diabetes from a CT scan, but I'm certain that they would follow up with an A1C test to confirm. There was no mention of such a test, nor even what her actual blood sugar was.

Second, type 2 diabetes is NOT usually caused by your pancreas not producing insulin. It's usually caused by a resistance to insulin. The very first treatment would most likely be a change to a low carb diet, and possibly a drug like Metformin. They would NOT put you on insulin right away. That would be a last resort since adding insulin just helps grow more fat which increases insulin resistance. A

Third, AND THAT EFFING NEEDLE!!! That isn't even close to what a real insulin syringe would look like, nor the bottle of insulin. A 1 CC syringe can hold 100 units of regular insulin. Some insulin is less diluted and could hold 300 units per CC. My syringes have an 8mm (5/16 of an inch) needle that is super thin. If Floyd's Mom's dose was 2.5 units, she'd be using as small a syringe as possible. They'd likely equip her with an insulin pen, not a syringe for such small amounts.

Fourth, it takes years of high blood sugar to cause any sort of neuropathy. Maybe she did have it for years, but I really doubt her doctor son wouldn't have noticed the symptoms. He's a black doctor, too, and would know that diabetes is prevalent among black people.

New Amsterdam isn't the only show that gets it wrong. Most do. It really needs to stop. It's dangerous.

As far as COVID goes, I think there should be a new type of syndrome called Frontline Workers Syndrome. It's caused when the workers are exposed to extremes which then causes them to have an extreme view of the world instead of seeing what's real. Hospital workers will see the most extreme cases of COVID. They will not see all of the people who don't get it at all or have very mild cases. Cops have the same problem. They get called to scenes of extreme violence. That violence feeds a distorted view of people which can lead to them overreacting to situations.
