Not as good as the first two movies, but I loved the action and enjoyed watching it.

Warning: Spoilers
I know this one isn't as "liked" as the first two. The budget looks low. It looks a little 80s-ish at times. I mean I love some 80s action yarns, but they were, well, the 80s, so I expect that look and find it charming now. But this movie is from 2012, so...

The continuing relationship of Michael/Selene comes to a screeching halt as they decided to shelve Michael for this one, to my disappointment. They gave Selene a daughter and their scenes together are kind of cringeworthy. They were sappy and weird. Only Kate Beckinsale saves it some as she does a good job giving off some emotions. Also, I didn't care for Selene's fanboy, David, a character made-up out of nowhere to fill in for the missing presence of Michael.

I think this is probably the best writing for the movie when Selene's daughter says how cold she is and Selene replies:

"Yesterday I was with your father. He was only a little further away from me than you are now. I went to sleep. And when I awoke the next day I learned that overnight 12 years had passed. And instead of the only man I've ever loved, there stood a girl with his eyes. My heart is not cold. It's broken."

That's a really pretty piece of writing. Good stuff.

I think what I liked the most, was the action. Selene was badassed, and I enjoyed every one of her fight scenes. They were awesome. The character is just an awesome type of character. The continuing story is so-so, but it does give it some substance and motivation for Selene's journey.

I enjoyed re-watching this in our pandemic days. Love, love, love the action. Love the character of Selene. 7/10
