A bizarre terror/comedy about a cemetery Man must kill the dead in their second lives when they turn into living dead . Thanks to a strange post-plague the corpses refuse to stay quietly in their graves , forcing a cemetery Man called Francisco , Rupert Everett, and the mute gravedigger , Hadj Lazaro, to split their heads . But at times , Francisco is a little slow to rebury the still-active corpses . Along the way a Police inspector , Mickey Knox , investigates a series of grisly killings . Grotesque and gore-feast little saga about zombies and necrophilia set in a small Ilalian graveyard. Freely based on the Italian graphic novel Dellamore Delamore from Dylan Dog series by Tiziano Sclavi. Casting is pretty good and production design is notable . It is a creepy fim with ironical and hilarious touches with a number of amazing and surprising scenes and lots of blood and gore . The picture is decently made , being entertaining and acceptable , but has a convoluted plot with several scenes with no too much sense . Rupert Everett gives a sympathetic acting as watchman Francisco Dellamore who becomes involved in a lot of problem when the living dead are reanimated on the seventh night after their death . And Anna Falchi is really gorgeous as Francisco Dellamorte's dead sweetheart who rises from her grave .
The motion picture was well directed by Michael Soavi , though being some confusing , twisted and complex . Soavi is a fine artisan who began as a director assistant to various films mostly directed by Dario Argento and Lamberto Bava -Mario Bava's son- such as : Tenebre , Phenomena , A Blade in the Dark , Demons . With new experience and essential skillness, he went on assisting Dario Argento as FX supervisor for Opera . Then Argento offered him to shoot the horror film titled La Chiesa or the Church , filmed in Hungary . In the Eighties and Nineties Soavi made some decent horror movies such as : Aquarius , La Chiesa , The Sect and his greatest hit this Dellamore , Delamore or Zombie Graveyard .
