Lothar is a straight-laced middle aged man who seems to live for his work as an expert "Moroccan floor tiles" salesman, spending all of his free time with his beloved dog. Lothar is so strictly introverted and emotionally unavailable, that he has even shunned his ex-wife and grown daughter.
