This was my favorite movie of the series and I pretty much loved them all. Today is 1/12/21 and this is the first time I've seen this movie. For some reason it was never in the marathon weekends. I'm so glad it was on recently. I felt this was a gem and perfect for all the craziness of this past year. The themes of hope, love and patriotism were perfect. It still had the fun and quirky antics I've come to love and the deeper notes of emotion including Shane's childhood home being razed, a missing soldier braving escape to get back to her family, Oliver returning to the scene of his abandonment by his wife and the insecurities of Oliver and Shane's budding relationship. The 2nd best part- Miss Wyoming singing the Impossible Dream for her talent. It was beautiful and full of emotion and hope. It was very inspiring. Of course the absolute best part was when Phoebe ran into her mother's arms. I am still reeling with emotion.
To Carolannstephen, when the lawyer asked Oliver if he was going to retire since he now had a lot of money, his reply was he would remain at the Post Office because If all you have is money then you will never have enough. (Not word for word but close enough).
