As a progressive left Democrat, I've always felt that this show straddled center intentionally, while being unaware of its moderate to right leanings. I'm not one to boycott entertainment based on politics, but this episode angered me. Were the writers confused and angry over Trump's impeachment at the time? At first, throughout seasons 5-6, I thought "Oh, the writers are flipping the script to inspire open-mindedness and unity. How clever!" Then, they ruin the dark-skinned black woman's character - totally obliterate an always loyal team player (and dye her hair blonde, too), while blatantly comparing her to the Trump campaign (using Iran instead of Russia). What? Then, they finish the episode with Madam President donning a bright red blazer. Subtle. This reminds me of The Colbert Report when everyone pretended it was an ironic joke, but now it's not that funny. Make up your mind CBS. You're not ABC - we count on an unambiguous message. All I can say is, the last few episodes better explain.
