As soon as it was announced America Ferrera would be leaving the show, we knew what that meant for Jonah and Amy, but it was still painful to watch. I thought the episode was a nice send off for Amy, befitting her character, who has always been a lovable character with hard edges. Despite the breakup being forced by Ferrera's exit, I think it made perfect sense for the storyline, given her past and the fact that Jonah has always loved her more than she loved him. I'm interested to see where Jonah goes from her since, though I love the show and his character, he has always been a bit two dimensional, with his existence revolving around Amy. I do worry the writers won't address his grief over, not only losing Amy, but also Parker, since, as he pointed out, he has been raising him with her his whole life. Overall, I'm looking forward to seeing what Amy's departure will mean for the show and feeling cautiously optimistic.
