Review of Whirlpool

Whirlpool (1950)
7/10
Gene Tierney

I watched only to marvel at this goddess walking across the screen again. A rather routine story of Tierney who happens to be a kleptomaniac and who's husband is a psychiatrist. She gets taken advantage of by Ferrer's character who has the art of hypnosis. It's ok but comes across as an advertisement for the burgeoning psychiatric profession.Comte as the clueless ( how can that be?) husband is wooden Ferrer is not a bad villain, Bickford as the cop as usual is excellent. Ben Hecht's script has its moments. Still it's worth a look.
