A small budget film with a strong cast of actors

Warning: Spoilers
A small budget film that's elevated by the engaging performances of its cast. This understated horror movie reminded me of The Witch, with its similar themes of suspicion and fear elevated by the suffering and hardships, people of this era would've gone through.

The director Thomas Robert Lee does a great job with the small budget and while there isn't a lot of gore or horror elements on screen (although there is a scene involving an attempted abortion that's extremely cringe-worthy) there is an atmosphere of unease and paranoia, that made watching the events unfold intriguing.

It's not going to appeal to everyone, with its slow pacing and lack of big screen horror elements, but The Curse of Audrey Shaw's strong actors and smart use of its small budget elevates it above similar films of this sub-genre.
