FATAL TERMINATION is one of those Hong Kong action thrillers made on a budget which can best be described as mid range. Nonetheless it manages to pack a real punch, beginning with a complex, multi-character story of corruption at Hong Kong's customs and excise unit and an arms-smuggling international criminal mastermind and gradually transforming into a straight action flick about a cop and his family in peril from numerous sinister figures. Both the plotting and action are handled in a decent way, with the stunts performed exceptionally given the budgetary limitations. There's stuff involving a kid-in-peril here that could never be done in Hollywood and it's literally jaw-dropping when it comes to the danger and risky situations in which the cast find themselves. The good guys are likeable and have decent scenes, particularly Moon Lee, while the bad guys, including MORTAL KOMBAT's Robin Shou and the reliable Phillip Ko, are exceptional.
